About Me

Hi, my name is Katy!
I've been creating since I knew how to hold a pencil in my hands. I hold a certificate and degree in English and Creative Writing from Northern Arizona University (Class of 2021), so poetry is very close to my heart! I plan to go back and receive my Master's degree in English, Creative Writing and further my skills as a poet and writer. I also enjoy working in other mediums, such as sewing and papercraft.
Each poem is crafted with every fiber of my being and are written with words and feelings that help connect the reader with the speaker of the poem. All scrunchies and other works from Trinkats are pieces of my personality and creative self. Every creation is as authentic as it could be, and each one has their own charm.
I started creating as a young girl, with all types of mediums. Some of my favorites as a child were clay & Play Doh, paint, and other coloring utensils. I first started writing when my words were just scribbles and I would ask my mom to write what I was trying to say so other people could read my stories. I still have those stories on my bookshelves!
I realized I loved writing in grade school, when I wrote a play for my friends and I to act out during recess and free time. I seriously delved into poetry around the ending of grade school/beginning of middle school and I have been honing my creative voice since then. All of my works are carefully put together through my writing process and go through an extensive editing process to ensure that my best work is produced.
My love of sewing is newfound. I would help my mom with simple sewing tasks when I was younger, such as putting quilt pieces together or threading needles. I would steal her fabric scraps and make dresses for my dolls as "high-end fashion." I got into sewing on my own around the beginning of high school, when I realized I loved cosplay. (I hope to share/sell cosplays in the future!) Since then, I've worked on several cosplays and picked up dressmaking from my mom. I enjoy creating scrunchies that are unorthodox (much like my writing) since the scrunchies in stores all look the same. I strive to create at least 1 original scrunchie design a month!
